How does it all work?

When you sign up you get access to a tool that you will use to create your invoices and your salary.

You will have to find the jobs yourself and agree with the customer about the price and terms.

When the job is finished you send the customer an invoice and once the invoice is paid you will get paid.

We will do all the rest.

What are your fees?

6% of the invoiced amount will be deducted, with a minimum fee of 49kr per invoice.

No sign up fee, no monthly fees, no other fees at all.

What is included?

You will get access to a tool that you will use to create an invoice and your salary. That’s all you need, it’ that simple!

We will do all the rest, send the invoice, record payments, file ROT/RUT, pay your salary, file and pay all taxes and fees, and do all the paper work so that you can focus on your core business.

I run a business and want to employ staff, can I use your service instead?

Yes, just send the invoice to yourself and enter details for the salary to be paid to your employee and we will do the rest.

When will I get paid?

Expect to get paid about 30 days after the invoice has been issued.

You can set the payment terms yourself and if you agree with the customer on shorter payment terms you are welcome to set it to what you want.

We will pay your salary the same day we see the payment on our account. Depending on what bank you and the customer use, it might take a day for each transfer, so expect up to 3 days from when the customer paid until the money is on your account.

Also please note that if the invoice includes ROT or RUT it will take about 10 days for the tax office to approve and pay once the customer has paid.

How much will I get paid?

As a rule of thumb you can say you will get in your pocket 50% of the invoiced amount excl moms (VAT), or 40% of the total invoice amount incl moms (VAT).

If your work is household services the customer can get a tax credit which means the customer will pay 50% less for cleaning, yard work, etc and 30% less for renovations and construction, etc. (find out more under “What is ROT/RUT?”).

What is ROT/RUT?

ROT/RUT is a tax credit that is deducted from the amount of the invoice and paid by the tax office.

ROT is subsidised by 30% of the labour cost of Renovation, Rebuild and Extension of residentual houses.

RUT is subsidised by 50% of the labour cost of serivces in the household and yard work.

Once the customer pays the amount due, the subsidized amount will be requested from the tax office.

Please note that if the subsidy is not approved, the customer will have to pay the full amount due.

What is moms (VAT)?

Moms is a value added tax that is added to most products and services.

When you quote a price to a customer you have to make sure to let the customer know if your price is excl or incl moms.

A common practice is to qoute prices to a business excl moms and to private person incl moms.

What kind of jobs can I do?

You can do pretty much any job.

However, please note that some jobs require certifications or licenses that will not be provided by Rent A Paycheck.

You need to make sure you are qualified and licenced to do the job.

Am I insured?

Yes, our insurance covers accident and life (if you hurt yourself, someone else or property).

Please note that you are only employed during the time of your assignment, which means you need to let us know when you plan to work if you see the need to be insured.

I make apps and websites, my main income is advertising from Google Ads, etc. Can I use Rent A Paycheck?

Yes, no problem!

Just issue an invoice to the name and address on your receipt (e.g. Google Ireland), also add the VAT number from the receipt, but send the invoice to yourself, not to Google.

The invoice will be an EU VAT invoice, i.e. no VAT will be added to the invoice.

Pay the invoice using the money you received from your Google account.

Done!

Can I do a job for a customer outside of Sweden?

Yes, your customer can be anyone, anywhere in the world.

However, please let us know before you invoice a customer in another country and we will let you know if you can use the regular invoice form or if another form is needed.

I am a US citizen and the new FATCA laws are making it really complicated to run a business in Sweden

Just close down your business and use Rent A Paycheck instead.

You will be considered employed, all your taxes and fees are paid in Sweden and all you need to do is to add your foreign income to your US tax return.

Do I need a work permit?

Yes, you need to have a valid Swedish work permit in order to use our services.

I am not a Swedish citizen or resident, can I still take jobs and use your service?

You do not need to be Swedish citizen or resident, but you need to a have a valid Swedish work permit in order to use our services.

If you are a EU citizen or permanent resident with work permit in a EU country you will automatically have a Swedish work permit, but you will need to register at the tax office in order to get a “personnumer” (tax ID) in order to make salary payments. I am asylum seeker, can I take jobs and use your services?

If you are an asylum seeker and your case is beeing investigated in Sweden, you likely have a special work permit for assylum seekers.

Look at your LMA-card under #7, it should say AT-UND, which means you can work in Sweden.

Please contact us to let us know the details of the work you plan to do.

If you find a customer who will generate more or less full time work for you, you can use our service without any problem.

Unfortunately there are lots of paper work needed for employment of asylum seekers, which means we will have to charge an aditional fee for smaller temporary jobs.

I am a dual citizen, where will I pay taxes?

Your taxes will be paid in Sweden.

Sweden and most countries has agreement to avoid double taxation. Please refer to professional tax advisor if you need more information.

Can I get reimbursed for business expenses?

Yes, you will be able to claim business expenses to be reimbursed.

The claimed expenses will be reviewed and only valid expenses according to applicable tax laws will be reimbursed.

Note that you can only claim expenses that are specific to the assignment, and the item you claim reimbursement for has to have been “used up” during the assignment. This means valid expenses are office expenses, building material, etc. Not valid expenses are tools, computer etc which has a financial lifetime that is longer than the assignment.

Can I make deductions for travel expenses?

Yes, you can make deductions and get reimbused for travel expenses.

Yes, you will be able to claim business expenses to be reimbursed.

The claimed expenses will be reviewed and only valid expenses according to applicable tax laws will be reimbursed.

Note that you can only claim expenses that are specific to the assignment.

Also note that travel that are concidered “private” will not be approved.

E.g. the tax office concider travel to and from an assignment being private, but travel within the assignment being part ofthe assignment.

Why is all your information in English and not Swedish?

Our mission is to make it as easy as possible to do what you do best.

Our target group is non Swedish speaking people and we want to reduce the language barrier.

Therefore our primary language is English and you are welcome to contact us in your language.

Our invoicing tool is available in several languages.

Can I use your service is I am registered as unemployed and on A-Kassa?

The rules for unemployment is not very clear. You will have to talk to your contact person at Arbetsförmedlningen. Explain that you work as “egenanställd” and they will help you with the information you need.

Will you file and pay all taxes for me?

Yes, all social security fess and taxes will be filed and paid by Rent A Paycheck.

In January we will send you a statement of the income and taxes for the previous year.
